Key Stage 2 (Year 6)

In May, Year 6 children complete their reading and maths tests. Writing, however, is assessed differently — through teacher assessment rather than a formal test. This process is carefully moderated and standardised within our school, across our cluster of local schools, and by the Local Authority to ensure consistency and accuracy. We apply the same rigorous approach to moderation for both reading and maths. Writing is judged against a set of assessment statements and takes into account a range of each child’s written work produced over time.
