Longparish C of E Primary School

Our Vision:

Our vision stems from the well known verse from Philppians 4:13

"To do all things through Christ who strengthens us" .

In so doing:

We encourage a love of learning in a safe and stimulating Christian environment for children of all faiths and none.

We ensure children’s moral values and beliefs allow them to become good citizens who appreciate the diversity within the world, recognise it as a strength and respect all with kindness and love.

"To do all things through Christ who strengthens us" expresses the idea that with the strength provided by Christ, one can overcome any challenge or difficulty and find contentment in any circumstance. It's not about personal empowerment or achieving worldly success, but rather about finding strength and peace in faith, regardless of external circumstances.

Our Values:

We are committed to three Christian Values:

Excellence, Friendship and Respect

We want our children to have 'a spirit of Excellence':

  • Recognising that it is not about being the best in class but about doing your best in class.
  • Striving to improve.
  • Doing more than expected.
  • Working hard at things that matter.
  • Showing integrity.
  • Doing the right thing when no one is watching.
  • God shows Excellence in all He does and all He has created.

We want our children to recognise that friendship is:

  • Loving like Jesus loved.
  • Helping others.
  • Working as a team.
  • Listening.
  • Being kind to everyone.
  • Not judging.
  • Not expecting too much.
  • Just being at peace with those around you.
  • showing an interest in others, being curious about their life and life itself.

We want children to be able to respect themselves, others and the planet.

Being respectful is:

  • Thinking, listening, looking, speaking and concentrating.
  • Being kind.
  • Not judging.
  • Being tolerant.
  • Being thoughtful – thinking ahead of what others might need.
  • Giving others space and time.

Our Squirrel Characters

Being a ‘good citizen’ is also about having a set of skills that contribute to personal success and wellbeing.

These will allow our children to be capable and able to strive, aspire and succeed in all walks of life.

Our Squirrel Characters help us to develop these skills in our children.
