Friends of Longparish School is the name of our Parent Teacher Association, fondly referred to as FoLS. Anyone with an interest in the school is a ‘friend’ and our children benefit a lot from their support.
At the heart of FoLS is a committee, elected at an autumn AGM by the parents present. There is a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer and other members who suggest fundraising ideas and help organise events. New members are always welcome; non-members are encouraged to get involved.
This year, FolS have raised considerable funds for learning experiences and resources to support learning in the classroom and to support our wider community work.
How you can help
Every year FoLS organise and run events to raise money for the school. The May Fayre is the biggest fundraiser, but other activities such as quiz nights, film afternoons, school discos and a summer BBQ and camp-out all make a difference too.
These are great opportunities to get together and create lasting memories for our children whilst raising funds for the school.
Please get involved in the events whenever you can. Put dates in your diary, invite others to come along and never be shy to volunteer to help. It will always be appreciated!
The 100+ Club is a type of private lottery. You buy numbered tickets that get entered into a monthly draw. When the tickets are drawn, a percentage of the profit is given as the prize, with the remainder going to FoLS. Please see the Newsletter listed below to complete and hand in the 100+ Club membership form to make sure your numbers are entered in next month’s draw.
Did you know that you can raise funds for FoLS when you shop online by registering with easyfundraising.org.uk? Retailers such as John Lewis, M&S, Amazon and Next are signed up to the scheme and make a contribution to FoLS every time you spend through the site. Visit http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/friendsoflongparish to find out more.
Keeping in touch
FoLS use the Longparish School Parents Group on Facebook to share information about what they’re doing and how you can get involved. If you’re not already in the group, please ask a member of FoLS to invite you.
You can drop messages or make payments into the FoLS secure postbox in the school reception area.
If you have any questions or suggestions or would like more information about FoLS, please talk to any one of the team or email email@example.com.
