Welcome to Longparish Primary School

A view of the front of our school.

Longparish Church of England Primary School was founded as a small village church school, which it remains. We serve primarily the villages of Longparish and Hurstbourne Priors, and also welcome children from the surrounding areas, including Andover and Whitchurch.

The school was founded in 1837 by a local family who remain active supporters of the church and school. It was built on its existing site between the river Test and the Test Way, next to the church. The original buildings have since been replaced and an extensive building programme has added two new classrooms, a music/drama room, an ICT suite, a new school and community hall and a new kitchen.

We are extremely fortunate to have a wonderful setting for our school, with the facility of large, secure school grounds, which provide many 'outdoor' opportunities for the children.

As a small village school, with a target roll of 105 pupils, we have a very friendly atmosphere, which is lively and vibrant and looks to the future within its historic local setting.

The school is organised in four teaching groups which are flexible to ensure the needs of the pupils are met. The class sizes and high teacher/pupil ratio contribute to the school’s success.

We are proud of our academic and other achievements, reflected in the most recent report by Ofsted, which said:

“The children are enthralled and excited about school and learning...  Pupils thrive on stimulating activities provided in lessons... The pupils say they love coming to school because, as one explained, 'There's so much to do, you make friends easily and it's great fun.' ”
